Summary: The “law of the Lord” is known by the Hebrew people as “Torah.” We find out about some important things related to the Torah in Psalm 1. To begin with, in a most limited sense, “Torah” is often used to refer to the first five books of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. In a much broader sense, sometimes when “Torah” is used it means the entire spectrum of Jewish laws and teachings. It is this latter sense in which Psalm 1 appropriates the use of “Torah.”
