Summary: Playing 2nd Fiddle – At the beginning of Paul’s Christianity, Barnabas took the lead in the stories about the two of them. But as Paul the student learned, he moved up unto the lead position. How did this affect Barnabas? He accepted it with grace. How can we apply this to our own lives? Barnabas and Paul were called to be teachers, a spiritual calling. Acts 13:16ff tells about a visit to a town where the audience invites Paul to speak to them. Paul’s message was just a brief message to be aware of what was happening with gospel. The message thrilled Barnabas, despite the fact that they got in trouble and were thrown out of town. Both men realized they were part of a greater work.
