Summary: In this sermon, we explore the historical & literary contexts of Christian practices in the New Testament, as well as the issues at stake. Church customs, habits, and traditions many times become the source of extreme conflict within the body of Christ. Christians coming from two totally different backgrounds can have strong opinions of what ought to be done. The way different people, depending on their background, form and practice of “church” will have strong cultural, historical, and traditional perspectives. How do we determine what God desires from us in our practices as church? How can we act with Christlike regard when a “neutral” practice is in question?
