SUMMARY – It is possible to pull out verses, twist the context, and you get distorted messages. Promises in the Bible—ask anything, knock and doors open, etc.—are grounded in the basic idea of being “dead to this world” and having our sights on heavenly things. Levi goes through some passages to show how we can misread versus correctly understand God’s promises. The promises of God are not a “name it and claim it” operation, not an entitlement program. The context inevitably sets up the conditions—doing the kind of work Christ does, keeping the kingdom first.
